These guys are PROS. Very professional & knowledgeable. I called them for a repair, but I am going with a full wood floor installation. I can't recommend enough.

We just read the reviews of Michael Kobylarek’s work on the Koby Craftsmen website and discovered that they collectively perfectly summed up our own experience with Michael.

An April tornado tore major holes in our roof, and water that gushed in created dangerously high moisture levels behind the walls and under the hardwood floors in the most damaged wing of our house.  A company taking care of the mitigation work directly following the tornado tore up the parts of our hardwood floors that had high moisture levels under them. We hired Koby Craftsmen to restore and refinish the floors in the rooms involved.

Michael came to the house, carefully reviewed the damage, and explained in detail the plusses and minuses of each potential option for the necessary repairs and refinishing.  He was very knowledgeable about the woods and the finishes that would best match existing floors and consulted us on aesthetic and practical choices throughout the process. He impressed us deeply with his knowledge, clear explanations, and desire to understand our priorities and listen to our concerns.

Throughout the project, Michael communicated very clearly about scheduling, arrival times in the morning, and drying times for the multiple applications of finishes. We always felt that we knew what to expect.

Because of our own time constraints, Michael had to coordinate with other contractors doing repair work (painting, dry wall) at the same time. He did so with remarkable ease. There were no evident frictions about who would work on what and when.

It was a pleasure to have Michael working in the house. Michael completed the entire project on schedule and on budget. I would give Koby Craftsmen 10 stars if I could. We had a new floor installed by a contractor doing work for us, and the finishing job his crew did was done incorrectly (twice!), and our brand new floor was in bad shape. Thankfully, he brought the Koby Craftsman team over to fix it. They had to do far more than routine sanding and prep to get the floor even and back to bare wood. There was no mess or dust anywhere. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail was truly impressive. Michael did several stain samples for me to make sure we got the color just right. They were super professional, communication was great, and they couldn't have been nicer or easier to work with. The end result is absolutely gorgeous and we couldn't be happier.  The rest of our floors need refinishing, and I wouldn't consider having them done by anyone but Koby Craftsmen.

The home we just purchased had nice, but rather tired, dull looking hardwood flooring on much of the main floor. When we wanted to add wood flooring to a den off the main entry way, we contacted Koby Craftsmen, who came highly recommended by Forward Design Build Remodel. When Michal Kobylarek came to look at the space and give us his recommendations, we discussed finish options, as well as how well the new floor would match with the existing flooring.  He told us about a deep clean and re-coat process that he offered, which could restore the lustre of our existing floors at a fraction of the cost of refinishing. He explained that our floors were in good enough condition to benefit from the process.  An added bonus was that the final sealing coat for both the new floor in the den and the rest of the existing flooring, could be applied at the same time, thus insuring a better match throughout. We decided to proceed with his recommendation to have the existing floor deep cleaned and re-coated, and we are absolutely delighted with the result! The old floors have been restored to a beautiful sheen and glow. We enthusiastically recommend this process to anyone wishing to give their older wood floors renewed beauty. We just had our wood floors repaired and refinished by Koby Craftsmen and they turned out great! Michael, Christopher & Jessica were very friendly, professional and they communicated with us daily. Cannot recommend Koby Craftsmen enough. We were/are in a tough situation due to a previous contractor and Michael of Koby Craftsmen has been kind, patient, and accommodating as we continue to navigate the situation and remediate the previous contractor’s poor work. It’s clear that not only is he a stand up guy, but he has a keen attention to detail and passion for his craft, which can be hard to come by these days. 10/10, highly recommend. I worked with Michael at Koby Craftsmen on my daughter's condo prior to her moving to Ann Arbor to begin her residency. I live in Massachusetts so this was done completely from a distance and I couldn't have been more pleased. I chose Koby based on their professionalism and detailed breakdown of the work so that I knew I could trust their quotes and work ethic. I wasn't wrong. They communicated via an online messaging and work system the entire time, with daily updates and pictures as well as phone calls if there were any questions along the way. It may not have been the cheapest quote heading into the job BUT I got a much better quality product and workmanship coming out! I cannot say enough great things about Koby Craftsmen. After dealing with a previous flooring contractor who left us extremely frustrated,  Michael and his team completely turned everything around.

From the moment they came in, their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to doing things the right way were so clear.
